Congratulations to the Coach Cox and the girls' tennis team for an outstanding season. The girls advanced all the way to Class A State Championship game. The Lady Vikings fought a tough battle against the defending state champions (Irwin Co.) ultimately falling short of the win. However, second place in the state is a huge feat. We are very proud of the them and their accomplishments on the court. STATE RUNNER UP! Team members are Olivia Barrett, Claudia Vann, Hayley Wainwright, Mary Kate Eubanks, Kyli Bone, Emily Hartley, Neeli Bone, Anna Locke, and MiKayla Cannon.

On Saturday, March 5, 2016, TCHS JROTC drill teams took the drill pad with extreme confidence and enthusiasm. Cadets again made history as they marched with their heads high, competing in eight events, winning four first place trophies and two second place trophies for their third consecutive region victory. Their performances were virtually unmatched from start to finish. Drill commanders set the tone through use of proper voice inflection to direct their teams to victory. The teams took home first place trophies in both male/mixed armed and unarmed platoons, male unarmed squad and female armed squad. Second place trophies were awarded for armed male squad and female color guard. Cadet Kiera Stinson directed two teams, while Cadet’s David Walker, Savanah Brown, John Walker, Maurice Johnson, Trent Clark, and Tyrique Whitening each directed one team. Cadet Trent Clark also won an individual medal and Cadet John Walker also performed an exhibition drill routine. As a result of team’s performances, for the sixth consecutive year, teams earned a spot to compete in the Georgia State Drill competition to be held on Saturday, March 19, 9:00am at Griffin HS. Special thanks to SFC Smith for assisting in preparation of drill team readiness and to MS. Tina Duncan for her role as JROTC team mom. Our cadets could not have done it without you. We are very proud of our program and our cadets for their efforts. Mega Hooah!

Taylor High School Gym named after 2 coaching legends: Coach Matt troutman and Coach norman carter10/9/2015 Write up from WMAZ Channel 13 It's rare when a school gets the privilege of having an iconic coach. In Taylor County, they have one man in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and the current coach will certainly be inducted in the future. Norman Carter and Matt Troutman made their careers in girls basketball. They will forever have slots in history because Friday, the town named the school gym after the men. "This is extra special because its home and this is where I coached my whole career and its something that I'll cherish the rest of my life," Carter said. "Wow, I'm overwhelmed I"m very excited the community has been in an uproar about this," Troutman said. Troutman who is the current Lady Vikings coach has run the team for the last 36 years. Carter hired him after he gave up his clipboard. Troutman has had three perfect seasons and six state championships under his belt including last years title. Carter had a .933 winning percentage when he coached and his kids had a winning streak that lasted from 1962 until 1972, when they won 132 consecutive games.
