Taylor County Upper Elementary School held its schoolwide spelling bee on Friday, January 16th at the TCSS Auditorium. 15 students in 4th through 6th grade participated in the spelling bee; they were chosen by winning their classroom spelling bees. The top three spellers were as follows: 3rd place - Emmanuel Burgess (4th grade); 2nd place - Jacob Bolt (5th grade); and 1st place - Katie Oliver (4th grade). Katie will go on to represent Taylor County in the Georgia Association of Educators' District 6 Spelling Bee at Fort Valley State University on February 28th. Other students who participated in the TCUES Spelling Bee are: Michael Johnson, Kimberly Taunton, Taylor Jack Kirksey, McKenna Leverett, Jakob Hall, Clayton McGough, Jalaya McDowell, Derrick Carson, Mervyn Praveen, Addey Godfrey, Destiny Long, and Emily Averett. Thanks to Dr. Gary Gibson, Mrs. Tonya Guinn, and Mrs. JoLynn Moncrief for serving as spelling bee judges.
